Paris: Petition against Serge Gainsbourg métro station

French singer-songwriter Serge Gainsbourg penned a 1958 hilarious, dark melody about a ticket-puncher on the Paris métro (Le Poinçonneur des Lilas). Gainsbourg died in 1991 and as a tribute to him and his huge influence and following, a new métro station scheduled to open next year is due to be named after him. But a petition has been started - it's already got 10,000 signatures - objecting on the grounds that Gainsbourg is seen by many, as a very talented but deeply unsavoury individual. Ludine is co-author of the petition and told Newshour's Tim Franks why she objects to the new métro stop being named after Gainsbourg.
