Panda Parting

Edinburgh has bid farewell to a pair of popular giant pandas sent back home to China after more than a decade in Scotland.

The pandas have gone home. Tian Tian and Yang Guang left on a cargo plane heading to Chengdu. They've been a popular attraction since people lined the road outside Edinburgh zoo to greet them when they arrived in 2011. And they've left a lasting impression, even if they didn't manage to have kids. They are the latest pandas to leave the West after exchange agreements expired and not were renewed by China.

In this episode of our 5 Minutes On podcast, Pandas Parting, the 麻豆社's Scotland Correspondent - Lorna Gordon - looks back at the highs and lows, and the ups and downs of these special guests.
