Former home secretary defends backing boss at hospital with ‘mafia-like culture’
The former Labour home secretary Jacqui Smith stood by University Hospitals Birmingham’s former chief executive despite official censure, a Â鶹Éç investigation has revealed.
Medics told the year-long investigation that whistle-blowers were being punished by management for raising patient safety issues.
Many have questioned the actions of David Rosser, who was the trust’s chief executive for much of the time in question.
