Jon Pertwee discusses his career in 1971
As Doctor Who entered the 1970s, change was coming – a move into colour and Earth-bound adventuring, headed by a charismatic and flamboyant new Doctor. Portrayed by Jon Pertwee, Doctor Who was being helmed by a star. Jon Pertwee had already had a long and successful career on radio in The Navy Lark before taking on the part of the Doctor. He played against type, giving the role a suave sense of authority. In this interview with Peter Hunt, Jon talks about his career on stage, film and radio, as well as love of diving.
