Large increases in cost of rental property in Leicestershire
Loughborough has seen one of the largest increases in the cost of rental property anywhere across the UK.
Tennants in the town are now paying around 23 per cent more than they were this time a year ago according to research by Rightmove.
Average monthly rents outside of London now stand at around 拢1,300 per month, and finding somewhere to live in the first place is also getting harder.
Before the pandemic there were typically 6 applications to view an available rental property in Britain - the latest data suggests an average of 25 applicants are now chasing each available rental property.
Property expert from Rightmove Tim Bannister explains what's behind the increase, and Ady Dayman speaks with Michael Jokiel who is one of those who has been struggling to find a rented property in Leicester.
