For the past week, Russia and India have been racing to get to the Moon.

Russia launched its Luna-25 which was set to explore a part of the Moon's south pole, which scientists think could hold frozen water and precious elements.

But it wasn't to be as the mission failed after the spacecraft crashed into the Moon.

With Russia's hopes now dashed of making the first soft landing at the Moon's south pole, that accolade could now go to India - its Chandrayaan 3 spacecraft is due to land in the same area on Wednesday.

Dhara Patel, a space expert at Leicester's National Space Centre explains more about the dawn of this new space race.
