The mother on Ukraine's frontline
The story of Ukrainian markswoman Adriana, who has become a prime target in Russia's media after fighting the country both in battle and the field of propaganda.
As Ukraine continues to make small gains on various fronts across the east and south of the country, it is also battling a second, but no less aggressive frontline in the form of propaganda. Russian media outlets have repeatedly claimed that Ukrainian markswoman Adriana is a Nazi and that she's died in battle. The claims are not true, but they do show how important information and propaganda have become in this war. Disinformation has been used as a tactic since the war started in Crimea in 2014 but it is become increasingly targeted, honing in on Ukrainian servicewomen in particular.
