'She goes above and beyond for the community'
A Leicestershire charity for young people is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its manager.
When Louise Wylie took over the Eyres Monsell Club for Young People centre in 2003 it was only open on one night each week. Now it's a 7 day operation with 8 youth club sessions, a community gym and cafe, bowls club, foodbank, and mental health project.
Due to Louise's commitment the centre was recognised by her late majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who awarded it a Queen's Award for Voluntary Service in 2021. Louise herself was awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) for her service to the young people of Leicestershire.
On Wednesday night Louise's friends, family, colleagues, many of the young people she's helped, and other distinguished guests wanted to surprise her with a big old thank you party.
麻豆社 Radio Leicester's Hannah Meredith went to join them.
