Tha 'Nach fuar a Poll' a' gabhail àite air Eilean Leòdhais, beagan às dèidh a' Chiad Chogaidh, Tha Dòmhnall Chaluim, a bha a' sabaid sa Chogadh, a' buain mhòine le bhràthair Calum. Tha màthair na dithis aca, Mairead, air an tarasgeir le nàbaidh, Ciorstag, air poll a tha beagan astar air falbh bho na fir.

Chan eil Dòmhnall Chaluim cho fosgailte mu dheidhinn ceistean a bhràthair mun Chogadh a fhreagairt. Ach, beag air bheag, tha e a' tòiseachadh a' bruidhinn mu na chunnaic e.
Chaill Ciorstag an duine aice fhèin, Tormod, sa Chogadh. Chan eil fios aice dè thachair ris idir. Tha i a' smaoineachadh gu bheil fios aig Dòmhnall Chaluim air na thachair agus nach eil e a' leigeil air. Fhad 's a tha Dòmhnall Chaluim a' bruidhinn mu na chaidh e troimhe, tha sinn a' tòiseachadh a' tuigse beagan na thachair ri Tormod.

Chaidh 'Nach Fuar am Poll' a sgrìobhadh le Chrisella Ross agus bha e air a mhaoineachadh le Bòrd na Gàidhlig.

'Nach fuar am Poll' is set on the Isle of Lewis, shortly after the First World War. Dòmhnall Chaluim, a veteran, is cutting peats with his younger brother Calum. Mairead, their mother, cuts peats a short distance away from them with her neighbour Ciorstag.

At first Dòmhnall Chaluim is reluctant to answer any of his brother's questions about the war, but gradually he starts to talk about his experience.

Ciorstag lost her own husband, Tormod, with no idea of what happened to him. She suspects that Dòmhnall Chaluim knows the truth. As he starts to relive what happened to him in the war, the truth of what happened to both Dòmhnnall Chaluim and Tormod starts to reveal itself.
