Cheap imports hampering growth of Malawi’s cottage leather industry
Malawi imports finished leather products worth $10 million each year mainly from China and India.
Owners of small leather factories in the country are blaming importation of cheap products saying it has forced them to scale down their businesses, while others have shut down altogether.
