John Motson - The voice of football
The 麻豆社's Football Correspondent John Murray reflects on the life and legacy of his colleague and friend - the legendary commentator John Motson.
For more than half a century, John Motson was THE voice of football at the 麻豆社. Across an illustrious career he covered more than 2,000 matches, including ten World Cups, ten European Championships and 29 FA Cup finals, before eventually retiring in 2018.
In reaction to the news of Motty's death - at the age of 77 - Gary Lineker said the commentator was the 鈥渧oice of football in this country for generations.鈥� While fellow commentator Clive Tyldesley, who worked alongside Motson in the 1990s, said: "As a teenager I just wanted to be John Motson. Nobody else.鈥�
