Dmytro Kuleba: Lengthy tank talks risk soldiers’ lives

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has told 鶹 News that he has no doubt Ukraine will receive German-made Leopard 2 tanks.

“The only question is when, and now we are focused on making it happen rather sooner than later,” Mr Kuleba told the 鶹 Hardtalk programme’s Stephen Sackur on Monday.

Ukraine and many of its allies have been pushing for the country to receive the German Leopard 2 tank, from both Germany and Western countries who also operate it.

However the transfer of equipment can only go with the say so of Berlin.

Mr Kuleba said he is campaigning for the transfer to happen as soon as possible.

“Every day of protracted discussion,” the foreign minister said, “means more Ukrainian soldiers will die because of the lack of weapons”.
