Report calls for National Care Covenant to help fix what's being described as the country's "broken" social care system
The Reimagining Care Commission, which was launched by the Archbishops of York and Canterbury in 2021, has produced a report calling for a National Care Covenant to help transform the social care system in England. The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby said: “This report gives me hope that we can rise to the challenge of fixing our broken social care system." The Commission says it recognises the lack of progress that has been made in implementing the proposals of previous high-profile reports, and highlights the need for a broad coalition – including politicians, faith communities, charities, and user-led organisations – to take action. The Yorkshire based Chair of this Commission, Dr Anna Dixon MBE, has been speaking to Â鶹Éç Political Reporter Sarah Sanderson about this report. The Department for Health and Social Care has been approached for comment.
