A national poll has revealed significant public support for politicians to act on assisted dying following the first ever House of Commons inquiry on the issue.

The suvey was carried out by YouGov on behalf of Dignity in Dying and asked the public what outcome they would most like to see.

One man who has been campaigning for a change in the assisted dying laws is Phil Newby from Rutland.

Phil has motor neurone disease, and can no longer walk, or use his hands and lower arms. He also needs to be ventilated for several hours a day.

Phil tells Jo Bostock his thoughts on the new political developments.
