Last man standing - There but for the grace of God

What happens when our journalist covering the Syrian conflict is captured himself

In the week between Christmas and New Year we are listening back to some of our favourite episodes from 2022.
Today: One of the most riveting tales of the year from Times war correspondent Anthony Loyd. In their podcast series ""Last Man Standing"" Anthony and Manveen investigated the kidnapping of British photojournalist John Cantlie. Cantlie had been taken hostage by Islamic state in 2012, his fate is still unknown.

For Anthony this story is personal as he reveals that he himself was captured while reporting on the Syrian conflict. What is it like to be a journalist covering war? And what does his experience tell us about John Cantlie's kidnap?

Hosts: Manveen Rana and Anthony Loyd, War Correspondent, The Times.

Clips: 麻豆社 and CNN.
