Qatar's World Cup

Sports Editor Dan Roan on what fans should expect and why this tournament will be different.

A World Cup like no other. The 麻豆社's Sports Editor, Dan Roan, has covered football competitions all over the world, but he's never reported on a tournament like this.

Ever since the Middle East state of Qatar won the right to host the 2022 competition twelve years ago, the contest has been mired in controversy. There have been allegations of bribery, concerns about the deaths of migrant workers building stadiums, and questions about Qatar's treatment of women and LGBTQ+ people. Fans travelling to see England and Wales play will find themselves in an expensive, conservative Muslim country with strict laws on alcohol, where both sex outside marriage and same sex relationships are illegal.

So, will all that overshadow the football? In this episode, Dan answers 5 Questions On... Qatar's World Cup.
