UK economy 'fell behind' after Brexit
The UK economy "fell behind" after Brexit, says Polly Toynbee, columnist at The Guardian newspaper and co-author of The Lost Decade: 2010–2020.
She says the referendum on membership of the European Union in 2016 "drew the fire from a whole lot of causes and wrapped them into one".
Immigration became a "scapegoat" but is no longer top of British voters' concerns, she adds.
