Does the UK have a political identity crisis?
Identity and immigration are still central to UK politics, according to Sir John Curtice, leading political and election analyst.
He says arguments on these issues have made it much harder for people to reach compromise in both wider society and in Westminster.
In the past, he says, social class was the principle cause for division but that common ground could more easily be found in the "way you divide up the economic cake".
