Making pop art and the Sgt Pepper album cover
Artist Sir Peter Blake has told the 麻豆社 about the creative processes for his pop art and that of one of his most famous creations.
鈥淚 took my life as my subject matter so it was autobiographical - it included a big interest in popular music,鈥 he told 麻豆社 Hardtalk鈥檚 Stephen Sackur.
Sir Peter said he aimed to make the visual equivalent of pop music and went on to create the album cover for one of the most famous Beatles albums - Sgt Pepper鈥檚 Lonely Hearts Club Band.
The album art was created by building a life-size collage in his studio. Life-sized heads were created, cut out and tinted, he said.
鈥淚 had this idea that by working the way we were, this crowd who had gathered around this fictitious band of Sgt Pepper could be anybody.鈥
