Monkeypox: Staying safe at Pride

The 麻豆社's LGBT & Identity Reporter Josh Parry meets up with a team in Manchester's gay village, armed with information to help people enjoy their weekend safely.

Each year, thousands of people flock to Manchester for the city's annual Pride event. There's a colourful and chaotic march, brilliant bars and spectacularly camp performances. For some Pride is even a chance to find romance, or perhaps something even more casual.

But with the spread of the Monkeypox virus, which is mostly transmitted between gay and bisexual men, some in the LGBT community are feeling nervous. What鈥檚 more, even though thousands have already been vaccinated, supplies of jabs are running low, and there鈥檚 due to be a pause in the rollout.

For 5 Minutes On, the 麻豆社's LGBT & Identity reporter Josh Parry, has been finding out how the LGBT community are helping keep each other safe at this year's Pride. He's also met up with one team who go out in Manchester's gay village armed with information to help people enjoy their weekend safely.
