The oyster women of Gambia

Oyster farming in The Gambia is completely dominated by women. They harvest, process and market the oysters. But these women are now seeing their livelihoods slowly disappear. And this is partly due to Climate Change, which is affecting the mangrove ecosystem where the oysters grow. If carbon dioxide emissions remain high, by the end of the century oyster stocks are projected to decline by up to 80%. The 麻豆社鈥檚 Jean Otalor joined some women in The Gambia as they went searching for oysters.
