Love Island: Tasha's 'superpower'

Love Island's first deaf contestant, Tasha Ghouri, has relied on a cochlear implant since she was five. We speak to her Dad and an implant surgeon about what life is like for her.

Tasha Ghouri is Love Island鈥檚 first deaf contestant. The 23-year-old has complete hearing loss and relies on a cochlear implant, which she had fitted at the age of five.

For Five Minutes On, 麻豆社 health reporter, Annabel Rackham, has been finding out what life is like for Tasha from her dad Tarek - and how he feels about some of the negativity that鈥檚 appeared online towards her disability. "I'm a very proud father," he says. "She couldn't have handled herself any better in the villa in my opinion".

Annabel also talks to a cochlear implant surgeon about how the device works - and why it's more challenging for the wearer if there's lots of background noise. And another implant user - Alison - shares her thoughts on Tasha's time on the show and deaf representation on TV.
