'Turkey Teeth' - bargain smile or big mistake?
A Â鶹Éç investigation has found some people are being misinformed about the risks involved with a cosmetic dental treatment by bargain dental clinics in places like Turkey.
Love Island fans will remember the moment Jack Fincham burst onto the show in 2018 and proudly showed off his sparkly white teeth. But they’re weren't real. He admitted early on in the series that he’d gone to Turkey to get them done. And that week google searches for ‘Turkey Teeth’ spiked massively. Many young people now travel abroad to places like Turkey for the invasive cosmetic dental treatment searching for the perfect Instagram-worthy smile. ‘Turkey Teeth’ involves filing down someone’s natural tooth and adding a fake cap, or crown, on top. A Â鶹Éç investigation has found some people are being misinformed about the risks involved with this cosmetic dental treatment by bargain dental clinics in Turkey. Often the treatment plan is organised entirely over Instagram after someone just sends a snap of their teeth to a clinic. While some have said they love their new smile and have regained their confidence - the procedure can cause major complications including infections, nerve damage and chronic pain, as Divya Talwar – investigative journalist for the Â鶹Éç – hears in this episode of 5 Minutes On.
