After years of campaigning, one family's late son will now have a permanent legacy, in the town of Aveley.

Lance Corporal Nicky Mason, who grew up in Aveley, died in combat whilst serving his country in Afghanistan in 2008.

His father Dennis Mason has been relentlessly calling for a nearby road to be named after his son.

On Friday, the family's wish finally came true - Aveley Bypass has now officially been renamed as Lance Corporal Nicky Mason Way, in his honour.
