Afghanistan's secret schools
Last year the Taliban banned girls from secondary schools in Afghanistan. But, hidden away, in a residential neighbourhood, we've come across a small but powerful act of defiance.
Life in Afghanistan changed dramatically once again last year. As the Taliban swiftly regained control of the country, new rules - or in some cases, old rules - soon came into force. One of those rules was the banning of girls from most secondary schools. Access to education for half the population was cut off in an instant. The group continues to insist that secondary schools for girls will eventually re-open, but many Afghans are losing hope. However, hidden away in a residential neighbourhood, a small number of secret schools are being set up. For 5 Minutes On, the 麻豆社's Afghanistan and Pakistan Correspondent, Secunder Kermani, has been to meet some of the brave women and girls risking it all.
