Freestyle Skiing - Women's Ski Cross

Can someone from Sweden, Switzerland or France upset the Canadians in the women's ski cross at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

Can someone from Sweden, Switzerland or France upset the Canadians in the women's ski cross at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

Canada has dominated this event since it’s Winter Olympic debut in 2010, winning gold on three consecutive occasions and back-to-back silvers. Although defending champion Kelsey Serwa has now retired, they’ll fancy a fourth title with the experienced Marielle Thompson and Brittany Phelan spearheading their charge. In sport filled with jeopardy it’s hard to select an overwhelming favourite, but Sweden’s Sandra Naeslund has won nine of 10 World Cup races this season including a test event on the Beijing Olympic course in November. Naslund placed fifth in 2014 and fourth in 2018 – a podium place surely beckons here. Also expect Switzerland’s 29-year-old Fanny Smith to reach the latter stages while Alizee Baron of France won the small final to finish fifth in PyeongChang and will hope to go at least one better in Beijing.
