Afghanistan鈥檚 winters are brutal - temperatures can fall to as low as -25C and snow levels are measured in metres. This year鈥檚 harsh winter is accelerating the country鈥檚 humanitarian crisis. Since the Taliban鈥檚 seizure of power, and international sanctions, the economy has gone into freefall. Few can afford to feed their families or heat their homes. One million children are at risk from severe malnourishment. And the United Nations has now issued an urgent call for aid for the country. Quentin Sommerville is the 麻豆社's former Afghanistan correspondent. And for 5 Minutes On, Quentin's back in the country where he lived for three years to witness how Afghan's are trying to adapt to life under the Taliban as winter sets in.
