Mum and son Andrew listen to one of her favourite records from the 70s and enjoy a cup of tea together
Carolyn has mixed dementia, Alzheimer's and vascular. She spends her days in a reclining chair. The carers use a hoist to move her there from the bed, which is now downstairs. Music still has the power, every now and then, to cut through. Son Andrew digs out one of her favourite LPs from the 70s, by the Liverpool folk band 'The Spinners'. He reflects on the simple pleasures - music and a cup of tea. Mum usually needs help with eating and drinking but, under supervision, can still sometimes sip from a cup unaided. Mum and Me: The Dementia Diary was originally broadcast on 麻豆社 Radio Leeds.
