Sawhney: Music can challenge times we live in
Musician and composer Nitin Sawhney has said people tell him that his music has made them 鈥渁ppreciate other cultures鈥.
His latest album Immigrants explores themes of identity and immigration. He told Hardtalk's Stephen Sackur that musicians can change people and "challenge the times we live in".
Sawhney grew up in Kent, England and experienced racism as a child. He said: 鈥淚t鈥檚 a sadness that I think we鈥檝e returned largely to a time of intolerance and it鈥檚 been frustrating to watch over the last few years鈥 that鈥檚 the context I think this album was made in鈥.
