Fire Gardens

We get a sneak preview of the Fire Garden spectacle taking place in Caludon Castle park.

Ahead of a weekend of a magical fiery spectacle, 麻豆社 CWR's City of Culture reporter Ushma Mistry meets the team behind the Fire Gardens to find out what we can expect.

In 1595, it鈥檚 believed that the site of Caludon Castle hosted the first performance of Shakespeare鈥檚 A Midsummer Night鈥檚 Dream. As the sun sets this Summer, this historic site will flicker to life with and transform the grounds of the castle into a place of wonder as you wander through, or stand and watch, always close enough to feel the heat. Walk the Plank鈥檚 Fire Garden features intricately carved flaming flower boxes and delicately patterned floral chimneys, flame tipped bulrushes and copper lilies belching plumes of fire.

Alongside Walk the Plank鈥檚 fiery botanical sculptures, visitors will encounter Dr. Kronovator鈥檚 Fire Laboratory - a stunning interactive experience with ingenious fire installations by Emergency Exit Arts and Lightfires. Wander through a vista of flames and chemical reactions to meet Dr. Kronovator and his acrobatic assistant as they prepare their experimental flame and steam powered contraptions.

This is a City of Culture event as part of Summer of Surprises. The event is created by Walk the Plank & Emergency Exit Arts / Lightfires.
