Why are Bitcoin miners moving to Iran?
Digitally mining Bitcoin is energy intensive, as it requires massive computer facilities to perform billions of calculations each second. As a result, miners chase the cheapest electricity around the world.
A current favourite location is Iran, where eight percent of the network is now located. Financial economist Alex de Vries discusses the impact of Bitcoin mining in the country.
