Desert Town Landings
Two friends meander through a day as mysterious objects unknowingly fly over town
In an overlooked desert town, long-time friends Nish and Digger meander through a day - as a stranger on the radio reports on mysterious objects unknowingly flying over them.
Spied through curtains, bathroom windows, front doors: Desert Town Landings explores the relationships in a town we forgot to notice, happening anywhere and everywhere; outside the water tower, down by the canal, from your nan’s window, in your best mate’s back garden. Angry mums with mop buckets, teenagers and their floral memorials, our heroes with a banner on the motorway bridge.
Starring local people using analogue cameras, man-made footage revives the dying art of 1970s UFO hoaxes using traditional hoaxing methods. The imagined encounters tell a true and connected story of small-town boredom, the friendships you grow up with, and undervalued culture in written-off places.
