Frankie Bridge: 'I don't need to be fixed'
Best known as one-fifth of The Saturdays, Frankie Bridge experienced depression, anxiety and panic attacks from a young age. After keeping it all to herself for years, things came to a head in 2011 when she spent a month in hospital.
In this video for Mental Health Awareness Week, recorded in the Woman's Hour green room before lockdown, Frankie Bridge tells us how important being open and honest about her own mental health has been. She says realising she doesn't need to (or can't be) 'fixed' has been key and shares some advice on how to approach talking to others if you are experiencing difficulties right now.
The singer, presenter and mum-of-two has been an ambassador for mental health charity Mind since 2013 and her own book, Open: Why asking for help can save your life, was published earlier this year. You can listen to her full interview with Woman's Hour on Â鶹Éç Sounds.
