Coronavirus: Should BAME medics be shielded from the frontline?
Genetics could play a part in the immune response to the coronavirus. John Watkins, a professor of epidemiology at Cardiff University, explains how exposure to a Western diet and lifestyle have been found to affect the body's response to the disease within some minority ethnic communities. While scientists investigate why these groups are more vulnerable, he says we should be taking precautions now by shielding them from frontline work.
