US senator on anti-lockdown protests: 鈥業t was a scary day鈥

A US senator has said she is starting to think she might have to buy a bullet-proof vest after people protesting against stay-at-home-orders entered the Michigan statehouse.

Mallory McMorrow was in the building when protestors came in, some holding rifles. In Michigan it is legal to bear firearms inside the statehouse.

McMorrow, who is a Democrat told Stephen Nolan: 鈥淚 don鈥檛 own a bullet-proof vest. I'm starting to think if the tensions escalate I鈥檓 going to have to buy one to go to work.鈥

More than 41,000 Covid-19 infections have been recorded across the Midwestern state.
