India's slave brides
Globally 71% of modern slaves are women and girls. One of the most prevalent forms of modern slavery is forced marriage. In the Southern Indian city of Hyderabad it is called a ‘Sheikh Namma.’ Here young Muslim Indian girls are forced to marry rich men from Arab countries, only to be exploited and then abandoned.
We speak with some of the survivors and have concealed their identity at their request.
