Reading FC: Bittersweet first goal for Joao
Despite opening his Royals account against Hull, Joao couldn't inspire his side to a win.
After joining Reading from Sheffield Wednesday, Lucas Joao scored on debut, but couldn't prevent his side falling to a 2-1 defeat in their second league game of the season.
"It's sad to score and lose the game," Joao told 麻豆社 Radio Berkshire's Tim Dellor. "I came here to help the team.
"I hope I can do my job, but I hope the team wins as well."
And Joao says that manager Jose Gomes was a key reason behind signing for Reading.
"I saw him a few times in the Portuguese league.
"As soon as he came in [at Reading] I had the opportunity to talk to him."
