Eleanor Anstruther’s father Ian was sold to his aunt for £500 because his mother was in terrible debt. After hearing about this true story, Eleanor wanted to know more about how and why this had happened. She began some research and then wrote about it. She spoke to Â鶹Éç Radio 4's Woman's Hour presenter Jane Garvey about her debut novel, A Perfect Explanation.
