The woman who runs a hospice for dying animals
In 2016, Alexis founded a hospice for dying animals. In that time, she has given end-of-life care to more than 40 animals. Alexis, who herself has battled serious health problems with Crohn鈥檚 disease, has strived to create a relaxed and peaceful home for these animals - which includes dogs, pigs, sheep and hens 鈥 so that they can die among friends. One such patient is Bran, a 17-year-old dog with terminal cancer who was abandoned on the street but has thrived since being taken in at the hospice. Just as with humans, Alexis believes that "until you鈥檙e gone, you鈥檙e here 鈥 so let鈥檚 enjoy it and live life.鈥
