Will the next space race be an arms race?

You don't need to be a Trekkie to believe that the exploration of Space should be about exploring strange new worlds.
But some fear that President Trump is dreaming about fighting wars in space. He has ordered the creation of "Space Command" which will "enable our war fighters to defend our nation in this new era".
