Why should we all love wasps?
Should we really hate wasps? Professor Adam Hart from the University of Gloucester told Sarah Walker why we should all love the garden insect we all love to hate.
Adam Hart, Scientist:
"Wasps live in amazing societies, they go lots of great and incredibly ecologically important things. But they do have a slight habit of bothering us for a couple of weeks a year.
"They are massively misunderstood.
"We shouldn't look at the natural world like this, what is the point of us? Actually wasps are pretty important...they keep biodiversity high. With predators in the system those dominate species are cut back a bit.
"We'd certainly miss them if they weren't around."
