Altamont - the end of the Hippy Dream
As the A-Z of Psychedelia draws to an end Marc Riley and Rob Hughes discuss the concert often regarded as the end of the Peace and Love Hippie era. The Rolling Stone's free concert at the Altamont speedway track was promoted as the Woodstock of the West but as it spiralled into violence turned into "rock and roll's all time worst day".
