Kay Crewdson exposes the hidden struggles of women who've been affected, physically and psychologically, by miscarriage, whilst addressing claims of social denial around the issue. One in four pregnant women will sadly experience miscarriage.
It affects around 250,000 couples every year in the UK and yet the subject is still seen by many as a taboo; something that frustrates 35-year-old Kay Crewdson who, after miscarrying herself, believed there was a need to address claims of social denial around the subject.
Because of this, Kay goes on an in-depth journey to expose, not just the harrowing physical process, and treatment, of miscarriage; but also its even more impactful psychological effects, and the social issues that can surround both.
In this programme she shares her very personal experiences of miscarriage with her partner, and other women, as well as finding out more about the effects on relationships and the wider social implications. Kay seeks qualification of the stories she uncovers from the country's leading experts, and probes the future of advanced cutting edge medical research into why miscarriages occur.
