Drew & Jamie: Orange Boats Are In My Blood
Capturing the nation in conversation. In partnership with the British Library.
Drew and Jamie are members of Britain's only full-time RNLI crew and working at the remote Humber lifeboat station, based on Spurn Point, requires a certain constitution.
Luckily, these two have it by the boat load. They also have very similar backgrounds. They went to the same school in Whitby, are long term volunteers at neighbouring RNLI stations - Drew at Staves, Jamie at Whitby - and have strong family ties to the organisation they both volunteer and work for.
So when they ended up being part of the same close-knit team they had an instant bond.
They've seen major changes in the operation at Spurn. The crew and their families used to live on the isolated peninsula but had to be moved off for safety reasons and a new watch system was subsequently introduced. However, there are more changes coming and they both have some adjusting to do.
For the Listening Project they share their love and loyalty for all things RNLI and consider the future of the station and its team.
