A photograph of several New Forest ponies appearing to grieve over the body of a member of their group - killed by a car - has been shared thousands of times on social media.
Hazel Hill Scrap, a chestnut mare, was clipped by a driver just off the A31 at Emery Down, and died the following day.
A friend of the horse's owner posted a picture on Facebook with the comment that she hoped it would 'make people realise that it's not just the owner who it upsets but their herd members too'.
