Does screen time damage children’s health?
How much screen time is too much for children? Does it disrupt kids’ sleep and stop them playing outdoors? These are some of the questions psychologists posed in London this week, following a series of headlines which blame screen time for everything from a rise in mental health problems to rickets. So what should parents do? Tamasin Greenough Graham heads the Parenting Science Gang – an online group of 2,000 parents who want good evidence to guide their decisions. The conference was organised by Pete Etchells, Reader in Psychology and Science Communication at Bath Spa University. So does the evidence show that time spent on screen does do harm?
