Reading FC: Adkins proud of Royals achievements
The former Reading manager Nigel Adkins has fond memories of his time in Berkshire.
Adkins, who now manages at Hull City, will face Reading for the first time on Saturday since leaving the Madejski Stadium in December 2014.
"We kept the football club from going into administration," Adkins told the assembled media at Hull City's training ground. "We changed the culture there.
"There were no owners once we got relegated, all of a sudden that's it, there's no money, we can't sign anybody.
"We missed the play-offs with the last kick of the last game of the season."
Adkins said, despite some hardship, he enjoyed his time in charge at the Madejski Stadium.
"Normally after a period of time news owners want to bring their own man in.
"There were good people there, and I'd like to think that we did a lot of things behind the scenes to keep the football club going.
"We did a great job down there."
