The Dogs Trust is expecting a busy few weeks
'He ate meat and we are vegetarian and didn't want meat in our home', 'he is always staring at me - even when I am eating', 'he doesn't match our furniture.'
Yes these really are reasons for people giving up their dogs.
It's almost 40 years since the Dog's Trust coined the phrase 'A dog is for life not just for Christmas'.
In the month following Christmas last year the charity received a call every five minutes from people wanting to give up their pet.
The team at their re-homing centre near Amesbury are getting ready for a busy few weeks.
