After 16 years experience of DJing at some of the best club nights in the UK, veteran DJ Miss Melodie is training the next female DJ generation.

After seeing a lack of female representation, Miss Melodie decided to set up her DJ Academy in Leeds to help encourage more females to take part: 鈥淒Jing is changing slowly but it鈥檚 still a male-dominated business.鈥�

The academy was set up in 2007, but her female-focused class has taken off in the last 18 months

Starting from aged eight up to 16, Melodie says, she likes to start from the very basics:

鈥淚 don't just teach them how to press sync, I teach them the old school way, by ear.鈥�
