Northampton and Kettering General Hospitals have both been on the highest state of alert for nearly a week, as they struggle to deal with demand. NHS statistics show that ambulance delays have increased, with nearly 40% of patients at Kettering waiting longer than half an hour to get into A and E, meaning ambulance staff are waiting with them, and are therefore unable to get to the next emergency.
